Are In-Office or Online Sessions Better? When you are in office, I can be sure no phones will ring and no one will knock on the door and no dogs will bark. I can see more detail in your face to determine depth of relaxation and understanding. I have had some people say, they preferred in office, others said they preferred at home as their home feels most safe and comfortable and some have said they like both just the same. Providing you have noise cancelling headphones and sit comfortably (preferably not lying in a bed as it signals sleep) then online sessions are just as good for most people. I have a sound mixer and microphone so the sound is very good quality, either way.
Will I Lose Control? I am here to make you feel good about yourself. The whole purpose of hypnotherapy is to give you more control over your thoughts and your feelings. You have the control to stop or change a hypnotherapy session at any point. Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis done for the entertainment of others. It would not benefit you or myself to cause you harm or embarrassment. I value referrals and for this, I do my absolute best to give you what you need, and ask for in hypnotherapy, and nothing else. I will go over everything with you, before we start.
Is it Only for Weak-Minded People? Actually, it is quite the opposite. Intelligent, co-operative people who are able to follow a storyline, make the very best and fastest successes in hypnotherapy. Everyone can experience success in hypnotherapy with the right connections, trust and time, providing they want it. If someone comes in for change because their wife, husband or parent wants them to change, success may be limited until we target what is really wanted, by person coming for hypnotherapy. Success if very self-determined by the goal and need.
What if My Family Says, It Is Against My Religion? In the bible, it says to not let others control your mind. Your mind is not controlled by a hypnotherapist. We will guide you to make the changes that you want. You are the one who gets to finally take control of a busy, out-of-control mind. I will work with you, to make sure everything I say, is in alignment with your beliefs. Before we even start your hypnotherapy session, I will go over everything, for your approval. You are welcome to ask family or friends to attend with you, or you can let them know of your experience and success afterwards. If they come in with you, I will give them an uncomfortable chair to sit in, as otherwise, the tend to fall asleep and snore, and that can be distracting. I really like the description of (link) Christianity in Hypnosis at this site.
What Is It Like? Before you agree to a session, we will build rapport. When enough data is collected and when you feel comfortable, we will start your session. You will feel a very safe, and deeply relaxed. It will be like watching a really good movie or being in a really vivid daydream, where you are wonderfully engrossed and wanting to enjoy more. I may use sounds like a waterfall, dolphins, horses or a crackling fire to enhance your guided visualization and experience of comfort. You can hear examples in a 10 minute video on my Facebook page. You stay aware and engaged as if on the edge of a dream. You will likely not be asked to speak in your session but might be asked to raise a finger to tell me a yes or no response to a question. You will hear the words you gave to me, said back to you, to ensure it is exactly what you want. I do not read scripts but use a lot of data collected from you, for your very personalized experience.
Will I Go to Sleep? No. It is sometimes referred to as a “hypnotic sleep.” You may look as if you are asleep but your mind will remain very clear and in control. If you do happen to fall asleep (rare) you will be gently wakened to a more aware, yet relaxed state for best results.
How Will I Know I'm Under? When you have that relaxed, focused feeling and are able to follow the visualizations that I describe, as if you are in a deep daydream, you will know. You just feel deeply, emotionally calm and relaxed, focused and aware. It feels good. It feels a little dreamy. Looking for it, makes it more challenging to find. Allowing the state of hypnosis to happen in its own time, will engage it more naturally. for most people, the calm dreamy feeling settles in, within about 5-10 minutes though some can be quicker or a little longer. It all works out.
Will I Become a Better Athlete? Hypnotherapy is widely used for sports success and in 3 sessions or maybe even less, you will see improvement in your game. For many decades, Olympic teams and professional athletes have been using hypnotherapy to improve their game. Competition at any level is 80+% mental. Check the bottom of this page to see some famous athletes and celebrities who have used hypnotherapy.
Will I Remember Anything? Yes, you will remember. There are even many cases of people who had surgery while under hypnosis, and felt no pain and were able to describe the surgery as if it was a vivid dream. Through the guidance of a hypnotherapist, they control not only their level of pain, without anaesthesia, but they also control their own blood flow through the surgery. It is rare for someone to not remember anything. You kind of remember it like a pleasant dream.
Will Hypnotherapy Work for Me? Yes it will, providing it is for what you want. In my experience, almost every person I see, notices significant improvement within 3 sessions, unless they actively resist the hypnotic suggestions or don't want to change a behaviour or feeling. Some notice in less sessions and occasionally, some will choose a little more to reach all of their goals. Limitations include, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, severe mental disorders/ illness, and refusal to be hypnotized or to trust. Even children and people with mental disabilities can benefit from Hypnotherapy so long as they can understand the language being spoken and agree to the process. The key is to want to change something about yourself. If, for example, someone comes because their husband or wife wants them to quit smoking or stop snoring, it might work and it might not work. It just depends on how much the person coming for hypnotherapy wants it for themselves.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe? Hypnotherapy is completely safe. You cannot get "Stuck" in a state of hypnosis. You cannot be made to do something against your will. If that was possible, bank robberies would happen by means of hypnotherapy. Fortunately that cannot be done. Hypnotherapy is a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. It is always in your hypnotherapists best interest for you to have the success you desire. That's how we get referrals.
How do I Find a Good Hypnotherapist? Like other therapists and counsellors, Hypnotherapists will meet the needs of different people. One thing to look for is the training. Is your hypnotherapist certified and registered? Check out their websites and find someone who "feels" right to you. Do you feel like you can trust the person? Do they have an office or will you go into their home and how does that feel? Do they seem knowledgeable? Do they work exclusively as a hypnotherapist or do they use other modalities that suggest they are either not "all in" or maybe the other modalities sound appealing. Ask them if they follow written scripts or if they focus 100% on finding your inner dialogue and working with that. You may very well know even before your first visit, if this person feels right for you. During your first visit, you will know, by how comfortable you are and how safe you feel. This is a good indicator of the trustworthiness and skill of the hypnotherapist. You can always call or set up a time to talk on the phone to get a feel through a voice conversation. You can always ask to get back to them later if you feel pressured to make an appointment.
Your comfort and trust is most important, as this is what will most predict your success. Listen for confidence, knowledge, compassion vs ego or distance in the hypnotherapist's voice and listen for information about their understanding of your needs. You have a right to select the hypnotherapist who will most honour and respect your needs and concerns and quickly and respectfully use your own words to guide you to feel and be all that you want for yourself, at a deep subconscious level. Remember, hypnotherapy is not counselling. You don't need to tell the stories of hurts, just offer short points of the things you wish to release, and we will help you to do that, quickly and effectively.
Like you, my amazing, determined clients come because they want inner change and want it fast! I love helping good people to have noticeable success in 3 sessions or less. MANY have had success, even with only one session.
